Our baby Sam, who is one, pulled over a pan of hot tea on himself this morning. He is at Akron Children’s Hospital with second and third degree burns over about 20% of his body. He is awake, medicated for pain, fussy and needy, but he smiled at me a couple of times. There were only minor burns on his face, thank God. We will not know until the dressings are removed on Thursday if he will need surgery, or if he will be scarred. So, prayers, please.
Pray for Sam

Almighty and Eternal God, You are the everlasting health of those who believe in You. Hear us for Your sick servant Sam for whom we implore the aid of Your tender mercy, that being restored to bodily health, he may give thanks to You in Your Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
One backsliding protestant peacenik who reads you regularly is praying for you all.
praying for Sam….
Poor baby, prayers.
I can’t imagine the heartache/worry/anguish all of you are going through. Definitely prayers from me.
Sam is in my prayers!
Will do.
We are praying. Hope baby Sam is feeling better.
The ointment they used did not stick, so he had to be rebandaged, which means that we will not know until Friday whether he healed or will need surgery. Today he ate a bit – he has been nursing nonstop and who can blame him?- and played a little with a big ball and some blocks. He smiled, a little weakly. In some places his bandages had shifted and I could see the his burn, which broke my heart.
Prayers for Sam and for all the family.
Prayers for Sam’s healing
Oh so hard when little ones are hurting – good to hear he is still nursing, I’ll be praying for your family.
Now they say Monday before they know just how bad some of his burns are… But today he laughed when I played with him, smiled at a nurse (he had been wary of them until now), and ate more than he has yet.
Man it is hard to see the little guy bandaged and uncomfortable and drugged for pain. Longtime readers may recall the account of his birth, the hardest ever, and his hospital stay at two weeks. Sam has, in the first year of his life, suffered more than I did in my first 49 years. But he is a big fat happy baby and babies heal better than big people. But poor baby.
In my thoughts and prayers. – JV
Praying for your son, Dan! May St. Luke intercede and Our Lord, the Divine Physician heal him quickly, and completely.
