As the heirs of Holy Rus are again killing one another, take this little test to see if you can tell the difference between Russia and Ukraine:
Churches: Russian or Ukrainian?
Iconostases: Russian or Ukrainian?
Icons: Russian or Ukrainian?
Pysanky (Easter eggs): Russian or Ukrainian?
Embroidery: Russian or Ukrainian?
Food: Russian or Ukrainian?
Babushkas: Russian or Ukrainian?
Monks: Russian or Ukrainian?
Alphabets: Russian or Ukrainian?

Reminds me of the Japanese and Koreans- or the Swiss and the Norwegians and the Danish. Loads of ethnic hatred from people who outsiders can’t tell apart.
Except in this case, it isn’t. It’s all economic.
I’m not so sure the question is Russia or Ukraine. American politicians and talking thinks so, sure, but the sane man pays no attention to them. This is, theoretically, a struggle between Russia and Europe/America. Practically, we see Ukrainians killing Ukrainians (unless someone has more information about those Russian troops people keep saying are rumored to be present in Eastern Ukraine).
I’m not pro-war, but in this combat, I tend to sympathize with Russia and Eastern Ukraine. (Western) Ukraine is being used as a patsy for European and American interests and it shows in how Europe and America care little about the political direction of the government beyond “pro-America.” It’s Libya, Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq (goodness, the list is getting long) all over. Change the guard, ignore the actual happenings, celebrate the freedom (aka, slavery to American interests).
I look forward to the day when the United States is as free as Mother Russia.

Japanese and Koreans? I’m sorry, but that’s nothing in the least like Ukranians and Russians. Daniel’s comparison wasn’t that they just look like each other, but that their cultures spring from the same roots. Japanese and Koreans: Languages totally different, writing different. History different. Cultures different. Now, Norweigians and Danish, that’s a bit closer as a comparison to what the Russians and Ukranians are to each other. The Swiss have no place in this discussion.
I think he meant the Swedish, not the Swiss. Like the North and South Koreans.
Hypocrites! The Ukrainians hate Russians so much yet they used to be part of Russia long ago. Many so-called “Ukrainians” can’t even speak Ukrainian! They speak a Russian-Ukrainian pidgin language. Why need to demonize Russians seriously? Ukrainians got everything from the Russians, and then went back to discredit the Russians afterwards.
