I have spoken before of Quinn and Rose, from the War Room morning talk show. They really outdo every other right wing talk show in pure malevolent ignorance.
“Radio Rose” is quite a piece of work; at once mean and pious, she is like a poster girl for Bitches for Christ. She is the one, if you remember, who said she had coated her bullets with lard for the day when it was time to kill Muslims.
For unlike other right wing radio hosts, who profess to oppose only radical Islam, Quinn and Rose hate all Muslims, and do not hide the fact. (But it is telling, isn’t it, that when Hannity takes a day off from his show Rose is often chosen to fill in for him?) It is inconceivable that they could spew such hatred toward any other religion and remain on the air. Yes, I know there is lots of anti-Christian bigotry out there, but even that is rarely so unsophisticated.
And yesterday Quinn outdid even himself, which is quite an achievement.
The show regularly features the “Religion of Peace Heads-Up”, which consists of a story of some fanatical Islamist doing something horrible somewhere, which somehow “proves” that Islam is, in Quinn’s words, “a Neanderthal religion”.
Yesterday, the “Heads-Up” featured a story that somewhere in Afghanistan two men had beheaded a young woman because she had refused one of the men’s marriage proposal. That’s it. No attempt to show that this was somehow commanded by the Quran, or done in the name of Sharia, or anything of the kind. Rather, it was pure guilt by association, a false syllogism: the men were presumably at least nominal Muslims; they did this horrid thing; therefore Islam is inherently violent and dangerous.
That makes about as much sense as an atheist show featuring a “Christian Hate Heads-Up” that reported the latest office shooting in Nebraska or horrendous child murder in Arkansas, all proof of the violent, hateful nature of Christianity.
As my godchild Ellen would say, when she was a child and trying to describe something beyond stupid: “Stoop-da-doop-doop-doopid.”
