As a small minority in many countries of the Middle East, Christians often face great challenges. Last summer Sami El-Yousef, regional director of CNEWA-Pontifical Mission for Palestine and Israel, paid a visit to Gaza to see how the Christian community there is faring:http://www.cnewa.org/blog.aspx?ID=369&pagetypeID=35&sitecode=HQ

A little melancholia for your Wednesday:
Yesterday’s wins in three primary contests have again given momentum to Rick Santorum, he of the sweater vest and perpetually dazed look. He is of course jockeying with the others for the title of True Conservative, whatever that means.
He is also presenting himself as the Family Values Candidate, which is fine if your family is in favor of torture, preemptive war, and fear mongering (Shia Law is coming to your neighborhood!)
But no one is talking about the reason Mr Catholic lost his Senate seat: he betrayed prolife Pennsylvanians by campaigning for the proabortion Arlen Specter. The Democrats, acting intelligently for once, then ran a prolife Democrat bearing the name of his father, Robert Casey, a hero to prolife Democrats. He won handily.
And so the primaries continue, like a circus on a roller coaster. It’s entertaining all right, but sad…
How sad? Here is Santorum telling a mother that she shouldn’t have a problem paying $1 million for prescription drugs for her ill son: http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/02/santorum-to-sick-kid-dont-complain-about-1-million-drug-costs/#.TzHS4VOzEOQ.facebook
