I read the article on Rand by Sisico and it is anything BUT sympathetic. It is a literary analysis. Can you cite one thing he says where he agrees with her? You are not honest. Disagree with the man if you want, but do it honestly.

But I’m sorry; Acton is Fr Sirico’s baby, and its agenda is clear, and I disagree: the article in question is sympathetic to the horrid woman, Ayn Rand. If anyone can cite any difference in the “philosophy” of Ayn Rand and that of Anton LeVey, the founder of The Church of Satan, other than the fact that she did not personify the Self as Satan (whom LeVey did not believe existed as a sentient being) I will give them the proverbial million bucks, which believe me I do not possess.

Which is irrelevant as no one has ever been able to respond to this challenge.

Such nonsense has about as much credence as someone finding all the ways that Adolph Hitler gets it right; ie, how “green” he was, or how localist his “volkish” outlook was, etc…

Get you on the antipathy to Acton, but there is not a single article by Sirico on CL.

Exploring why some are attracted to Rand is not the same as sympathizing with her. I agree with the CL writer who said: The critical tension between Rand and Christian theology is on human worth. Christians affirm the inherent and very high value of individuals because of their creation in the image of God. Rand values human beings only for their achievements. A person who does not offer value is a leech, a “second rater.”

As for kindred, my brother in Christ, I think there is much, but will take leave of you with the hope for God’s richest blessing upon you and your family.

I’m sorry; I visited Catholic Lane and found an article that was sympathetic to that evil woman Ayn Rand…and you publish stuff from Acton? Fr Sirico has done more than anyone outside the neocon cabal (Novak & Co) to distort Catholic social teaching, quite aside from the fact that as a former gay activist and clergyman he should never have been ordained according to Church standards.
Sorry, I don’t see anything kindred.

Having just found Daniel Nichols (ht to Genevieve Kineke) I am very impressed by this reprisal of his efforts. My website, Catholic Lane, tries to lay out on the table the breadth of Catholic attempts to put into practice the social teachings of the Church. We publish articles from both Acton.org and The Distributist Review. And we are trying to follow the new Catholic agrarian movement. Except maybe it isn’t new — maybe it is also superannuated. But hey, that’s ok. Live and learn.
