Amid all the talks about slashing the budget- reducing Medicare, Social Security, and Food Stamps seems so urgent to so many- there is a curious silence regarding military spending. Americans are scared, so scared that they spend far more than any other country, and almost as much as the rest of the world combined on “defense” (a misnomer if there ever was one).
Yet all those billions and billions did not protect us from the last successful attack on the US, which was committed by a handful of guys armed with boxcutters.
