Maclin,
Very precise. I also believe that the culture of arelational orgasm is “ugly and wants to die”. So many of us believed this lie–”if you can’t stop doing it, it must not be a sin”–was good news.
I am so in awe and grateful that Jesus, in accepting His death, saved me from the terrible illusion that the only way out of my sin-filled misery is to seek death for myself and others. Please remember to rejoice, as that will communicate best the good news that Jesus allows us to be fully alive in the midst of such a gloomy and suicidal culture.
The culture may be ugly and want to die but I am so very grateful to be alive (Psalm 116).
Thank you, and maybe I should make it clear that I personally am also quite happy to be alive. Also, I don’t mean that everything about our culture is ugly, just the predominant sexual ethos. “Arelational orgasm”–that’s a good phrase. In many circumstances would work better than the word “sex” in “having sex.”
