I grew up in Waveland, Mississippi which was utterly destroyed by Katrina. I’ve looked at the pictures and can’t recognize a thing.
I find myself thinking of that line from Gone With the Wind these days: Look for it only in books, (or on the web or in your memories) – it is a civilization gone with the wind.
Who would have guessed that the same small town would attract two of the most terrible hurricanes in history.
I take it you haven’t visited, then? It would probably break your heart. I don’t know how many times I’ve heard variations on “We thought we were safe because we got through Camille ok.”
